Paid/Optional Chore List by Andrea Simanson The following chores are "optional" which means you can choose to do them if you want, but you don't have to do them. You need to finish your "daily chores" + 1 "weekly chore" before doing a paid/optional chore. You also need to ask permission before doing a chore on the "paid" list. If you do it to Dad and/or Mom's satisfaction, you will be paid the amount listed. You can suggest chores to add to the list by writing them in at the bottom. Mom or Dad need to approve the suggested chore before it will be "officially" added to the list. Wash outside of van or car – $2.00     Directions: Ask Mom or Dad to move vehicle to driveway. Using the hose, spray down the van. Using a bucket or tub of soapy water and a cloth, clean van (including tires and wheels, windows, all of van - you may need to use a stool to reach all areas), rinse van off, dry immediately with a towel so no streaks. Put away all supplies and clean up after yourself.                                                      Clean inside of van or car –  $2.00     Directions: Clean ALL garbage out of van. Using cleaning wipes or a wet towel, wipe down inside of van (dash board, all surface areas that are dusty). Clean inside of all windows using glass cleaner window wipes or glass cleaner and paper towels. Using shopvac, vacuum inside of van. Weeding – $1.00     Directions: Set timer for 30 minutes, go around yard with a plastic bag or bucket and pull weeds. At the end of 30 minutes, show the weeds to Dad or Mom to be paid, then put the weeds into the "lawn clippings" garbage can. Throw away the plastic bag or clean out bucket if needed. Bathrooms – $3.00 for whole bathroom or .25¢ per task     Directions: If you clean a whole bathroom (tub/shower, toilet, sink, counter, mirror, floors) you can earn $3.00. You must be trained by Mom or Dad before you can do this chore.     If you do one task in the bathroom, you earn .25¢ per task. So if you clean just the toilet and mirror, you get .50¢. But if you do all 6 tasks to clean the whole bathroom, you get $3.00. (So do them individually at separate times and earn up to $1.50, but do all together and earn $3.00) Dusting – $1.00     Directions: Using feather duster, dust glass shelves and end tables and TV in living room, brown shelves in hallway and front entry, wall around tall mirror (turn light on so can see dust), top of stair railing, tops of all dressers in house, master bedroom headboard and night stands and TV, family room end tables and lamps, bench near front door, all window ledges Mirrors – $1.00     Directions: Using glass cleaner and roll of paper towels, clean all mirrors in house and sliding glass door (2 bathroom mirrors, tall mirror, mom's vanity mirror, Kara's vanity mirror, family room closet mirror, boy's room closet mirror, DO NOT clean mirror hanging above stairs) For more ideas on motivating family members to do chores, read about the SFC Interactive Chore Chart and Chore Game!
